VIRTUAL: Understanding Dictatorships

Why are so many countries ruled by dictatorships? How do dictators keep themselves in power, and what factors cause dictatorships to transform into democracies? Dr. Kevin Pallister, Associate Professor of Political Science at Bridgewater College in Virginia will delve into these curious questions that are so relevant to our world today.
Kevin Pallister received a B.A. in political science from the University of Rhode Island, an M.A. in international relations from Boston University and a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Massachusetts. His research focuses on the conduct of elections and the politics of Latin America. His hobbies include practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu and learning about cosmology and physics. He joined the Bridgewater faculty in 2016.
