November 16 – Berit Strong
Berit Strong is an award winning performer of classical guitar and has recently started including the shimmery 8 Course Renaissance Lute and the rare, soulful Bass Viola Da Gamba into her solo concerts. She studied Classical Guitar in Italy for two years and received her Masters with "Distinction in Performance" at the New England Conservatory of Music.
International appearances include Rome Festival Orchestra, Estergom Guitar Festival (Hungary) and Belgrade Cultural Center Concerts. Radio appearances include NPR, World Service International, and MIT Radio.
She currently teaches all ages at Groton Hill Music Center, Powers Music School, The Groton School and at her home studio in Acton.
Her program for the Groton Public Library will include Courtly Love Songs during Renaissance England, composed by Hume, Dowland and Anonymous, and more modern guitar pieces from Brazil and Germany composed by Weiss, Morel, Bustamante and Villa-Lobos. You could call this program: "The Power of Love" from Elizabethan England and Brazilian Happy "Choro" Music.
All concerts made possible by a grant from the Town of Groton's Lecture Fund.
