IN PERSON: Snowy Winter Landscapes in Watercolor

Saturday, February 411:30 AM—1:00 PMSibley HallGroton Public Library99 Main St., Groton, MA, 01450

What could be cozier (or more hygge) on a cold February afternoon than creating beautiful, gestural paintings from the comfort of the GPL? Winter transforms the landscape by sharpening compositions, simplifying shapes and accentuating contrasts. By employing easy techniques - like flashes of bright color, wet-in-wet hazes, or just leaving unpainted paper alone - we can evoke the distinctive diffuse light of the season and build a plausible snowy landscape.

In this workshop, we will be making greeting cards or other intimate portraits of typical wintery subject matter such as evergreens, rustic outbuildings, bare branches and serene pathways through snow drifts. All levels of experience are welcome to attend.

Please note that this workshop is intended for adults only.

Local artist Caleb Brown enjoys painting outside in any weather. When he's not painting, you may meet him working in the children's room or in adult circulation.

Generously sponsored by the Groton Public Library Endowment Trust.
