IN PERSON: Paste Paper Workshop with Ann-Marie LaBolitta

Saturday, February 251:00—4:00 PMSibley HallGroton Public Library99 Main St., Groton, MA, 01450

The use of paste paper designs on book covers and end pages has been in practice since the seventeen hundreds. It is one of the oldest decorative paper making techniques used by bookbinders.

It's said that bookbinders would use their excess bookbinding paste by adding in some pigment and then brushing it out onto some paper. Next, they would comb, draw, or stamp patterns with a brush or other tools onto the paste. As the paper dries, it reveals a wonderful three dimensional looking surface.

More recently, paste papers are made and used by artists and crafters as book covers, in collages and to make cards for example.

Generously sponsored by the Groton Public Library Endowment Trust.
